What is a Yoga Teacher Training?

On the most basic level it is an immersion into yoga. It means that instead of a regular yoga practice that may look like going to a studio or your gym to take a class in yoga asana postures and flows, we delve deeper into the multi-faceted nature which is Yoga.

How long is the training?

There are at least 200 hours of instruction which encompasses, yoga anatomy, posture analysis and breakdown. It encompasses delving deep into various philosophies and inquiries of the body, the mind, the spirit, and its inter-related nature. We go into the study with a mind of inquiry and from a grounded perspective fusing science with those things that can not necessarily be proved in a laboratory, yet from your own experience you decide what is true and what works for you. Nothing in this training will ever be dictated to you, nor will you be asked to believe anything blindly. Although it may be more challenging to decide for yourself, that is what we are here to do : to help you tap into the only teacher - which is you.

What does the learning style look like?

Joining a Yoga Teacher Training is not your typical classroom. With AdventureYoga there are no desks, chairs, assignments or exams. Rather your life is the exam. If you start to feel more connected, less reactive, have a better understanding of yourself, nature, and all that surrounds you, you know you have immersed into this thing called Yoga. Yoga is a union of the small mind with the big mind - which is your mind when you are looking at the world from a clear perspective. It is a yoking of a limited perspective with the greater perspective. So it makes sense that in this training, this is what we cultivate - tools that enhance a clarity of mind, so that as you live your life you can make more accurate decisions based on what is actually happening instead of just going along with your old judgments, reactivity, or old programs and habit patterns of conditioning.
The way we cultivate this is  through a basic and simple practice called stillness. As we learn about cultivating stillness within physical stillness and stillness in movement we begin to touch the sense of one-ness which is what yoga is really here to teach us.
Certainly you will learn to teach - from practice teaching opportunities, cultivating a voice as a teacher and learning about the poses, however the training goes beyond focusing on the physical.
